LEGAZPI CITY: The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Office ordered the suspension of Catanduanes Gov. Joseph Cua on Friday and appointed the vice governor as acting provincial head.
Cua was ordered suspended for six months effective January 11, following the directive of the DILG Central Office based on a resolution of the Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for Luzon.
The governor’s suspension stemmed from the administrative complaint a certain Rey Mendez of Virac town filed before the Office of the Ombudsman.
DILG Regional Director in Bicol Anthony Nuyda, in a letter, directed Vice Gov. Shirley Abundo to assume office as acting governor of Catanduanes following Cua’s suspension.
