Cheap Eats Manila: Pepper Lunch Express Glorietta Makati Shimofuri Steak Ribeye Beef Pepper. Pepper Lunch is a “fast-steak” restaurant concept created by Japanese Chef and Inventor Kunio Ichinose in Tokyo in 1994. Currently there are over 350 branches around the world. It was franchised to the Philippines by Chef Jeroen Van Straten’s Benmark Group Holdings which opened the first branch at the Power Plant Mall in Rockwell Makati in May 2008 and has expanded to more than 35 branches in Philippines. Today we visit their Pepper Lunch Express branch at Glorietta and share with you some of our favorites including the Shimofuri Pepper Steak, Teriyaki Double Salmon, Premium Ribeye steak and Hamburg Steak and Beef BBQ. Pepper Lunch Express is the food court version of Pepper Lunch with a reduced menu offering, more affordable pricing with corresponding smaller serving sizes. At Pepper Lunch, diners have the added joy of cooking their own meal over a patented electro magnetic
sizzling plate which is heated to 260 degrees celcius. Choice cuts of beef, chicken, pork and salmon are served with rice and vegetables for guests to cook and season using flavors of teriyaki, onion sauce, honey brown sauce (Amakuchi) or garlic soy sauce (Karakuchi) for a highly satisfying meal. From their regular branches we highly recommend the Premium Ribeye Steak, Shimofuri Pepper Steak, Beef Pepper Rice, Salmon Pepper Rice, Teriyaki Double Salmon and Cheesy Omelette Hamburg with Curry Sauce.
