(8 Sep 2018) The clean-up operation of Manila Bay’s shoreline began Saturday, ahead of next weeks ‘International Coastal Cleanup’ awareness day.
A group of volunteers, cyclists and members from the countries’ amateur boat team rallied together to clear away debris littering shoreline.
Mark Louie Aquino, Philippine Campaign Officer of Earth Island Institute said the clean-up should be, “a wake up call to our national government to have a strong policy on plastic pollution.”
He added, “they have to control those companies who are creating this kind of plastics.”
According to a Greenpeace report out last year, Manila Bay is one of the worst areas for plastic pollution in the country.
