ONE person was injured when over 30 armed men stormed the Mactan Isla Resort and Casino in Barangay Agus, Lapu-Lapu City, on Friday dawn, August 10.
Lapu-Lapu City Police Office Director Lemuel Obon said 33 armed men were brought to the Lapu-Lapu police station for questioning.
They were reportedly hired by a Korean national identified only as a certain Mr. Park. They stormed the resort around 3:30 a.m. in an attempt to take control of the place.
The resort has an ongoing management legal dispute.
The men disarmed the resort's security personnel, but a shootout happened when some security guards fired at them, said Obon.
The injured person has yet to be identified.
Short and long firearms were seized from the gunmen who reportedly arrived at the resort onboard a white van. (SunStar Philippines)
