Boutique faces P227-M tax evasion raps

SOME P226.9 million worth of tax evasion cases were filed before the Department of Justice against owners of boutiques and a pet shop that issued fake receipts, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) said Thursday.

In a report, the BIR found Globe Mallow International Enterprises Corp. (GMIEC), which runs the Genevieve Gozum boutiques, to have been bloating its expenses, claiming false input value added tax (VAT), thus underdeclaring its income and VAT.
