Supreme Court justice files libel charge vs journalist

A SUPREME Court justice has filed a libel case against a journalist who wrote a book that alleged he used his influence to favor cases of his friends.

The two-page information was filed by Manila Assistant City Prosecutor Jose Nelson Todas after finding probable cause to indict Marites Vitug in court.

Vitug is the author of “Shadow of Doubt,” launched in March 2010, which showed that Supreme Court Justice Presbitero Velasco Jr. reportedly used his position to elicit favorable rulings for his friends.
